How many fish can I safely keep?

If this helps any I have a total of 17 fish in my 240,
5 of which are blue/green chromis.
3 are clownfish that NEVER leave the carpet anemone
yellow watchman stays in his hole (seldom see)
engineer goby stays in his hole (see on a frequent occasion)
mandarin - hides a lot
foxface active swimmer
5 tangs that are active swimmers

When the tangs eventually outgrow the tank I plan on getting another 300+G tank to house them (FOWLR)

2" foxface
2" Powder Brown
1" Clarkii
1.5" psuedochromis
1.5" sailfin tang
1" six line wrasse
3" Yellow tang
2" cleaner shrimp
1" peppermint
100 hermits
100 astreas


I'd like to get:
Hippo tang
achilles tang
niger trigger
powder blue tang (might not because of the powder brown)
Pigmy flame angel
Coral beauty

Too many?

Don't worry about the inverts, they shouldn't be a problem on your bioload.

I keep forgetting how big your tank is, you should be able to add a few of those fish easily. Just check on compatability and you should be good.

Looks good to me as well.. But as stated I would check compatability. You might want to get a few sand sifter inverts as well.. Astreas are a good snail I don't have to turn mine over much, but I do have to turn them over occationally. I really do like the Tonga Nassarius Snail as a sifter. Now that my tank is established I really never see them. They pretty much just sift the sand bed. I also like Ceriths because they are an all purpose snail, the sift sand are on rock, glass where ever there is food.

With your peppermints you could go quite a few more actually and if you end up getting aiptasia at least you'll have a head start on them from the get go.

Good advice. I put a hundred astreas in and spent a good hour turning each one over with a long handled snipper. I have bare bottom so they were even harder to turn. Kept scooting along as I tried:wall: I might try some cerith and if I remember right, they tend to lay eggs regularly. The Nassarius are my favorite snail in the other tank. Looks like special effects when I feed and they come up from the sand with their long nose. Very cool.

More peppermints sound good although he disappeared. I plan on a couple more cleaner shrimp as well.

I will check compatability and take it slow.

I forgot you were doing a BB on this tank so Nassarius's won't do you any good.. :wall:

I only see my peppermints at night with a flash light so don't feel bad. But I do check on them from time to time and know they are doing their job because I have been Aiptasia free for quite some time thanks to them.

Ceriths do reproduce in the home tank but that is a good thing because I can give those out to friends for free now, or new hobbiests in my area. Or they can become fish food as well
