How many gallons do you think this tank is?

Not to add fuel to the fire, but was this purchased used? For some reason I had the idea it was purchased new with a 72G sticker on it. Not sure how I got that idea, must have just assumed.

If so . . . it might be a 65G bowfront.

The dimensions from your post are pretty similar to the dimensions in this link.

If it's a 65G, it would be pretty reasonable to see 63G of water in it, more or less, once you compensate for the thickness of the walls, items in the tank, etc. It would mean the seller thought his tank was bigger than it really was, which seems to happen all the time in both directions. I had someone try to sell me a 40G that they thought was a 90G, and another time, a 20G that was really a 50G. Craigslist and private sales, rare to find a seller who really knows what they are selling.

hey cash, I think the measurements I gave & plugged into one of the online calculators using 15" as my avg. width came to about 68gal. so my avg. could be off. but the dimensions I gave actually came very close almost spot on to aqueon's online spec sheets for a 72gal BF & other AC'ers also confirmed.

so yes it was bought used off CL with no label. but I don't think they make a 65gal BF - if they do, do you know which company?

But anyway, I have resigned myself to accepting what I have - doesn't take away from my enjoyment - BF's are beautiful & are a great addition if you want it in living space (I have mine in my basement & it sure peps of the space down there!)

hey cash, sorry I overlooked your link for the 65gal BF - wow, an all clear frameless tank! & pricey! definitely not what I bought used for the price I paid. mine is black framed all around. aqueon doesn't make a 65, but your link shows it as acrylic! no wonder it's so pricey! mine is cheapo glass.

I realize I am a little late but have been very very busy lately. We have a 75 gal and it measures 48x22.5x18. Therefore yours would be a 72 gal. Invest in the Phython syphon hose. It's a little expensive but it is definitely worth it.

you're not too late. I would agree it's a 72BF since my outside dimensions are spot on with aqueon's spec sheet.

I was contemplating the python 25' - petco had it for about $55, online I think it wwwas www.kensfish.com or www.bigalsonline.com that had it for only $31.

but since I spent a ton to start up my discus BF tank, I opted to use the JBJ G-28 instant siphon & graveller (petco $16.50) & my "trusty" 1gal milk jugs to refill.

but sometime down the road I will get the python. thks again.
