Was thinking of gettin some more hermits. Right now I have one blue leg. I want to get one more blue leg and 2 scarlet hermits. So 4 can't be to many, can it? And will the blue leg and scarlet get along? Thanx

As a thumb rule i go with is how many gallons my tank is 55 gallon then i half that number 27 & that's how many hermits i have 27 yeah you loose some due to fights but i`l never go below 20 hermits in my tank try avoid the XL HERMITS just stick with scarlets & reg sized one`s & its a good idea to ask your dealer to from in a good few extra shells larger one`s than the shells your hermits carry that way less fighting will occur....
you can reach the number of hermits you need over a 4-6months period as during this time your LR will hget more dirty & so will your sand

unless were talking a pico here (1-3 gallons) 4 hermits is not to many. It may not even be enough to do much of anything IMO.
I not believe that in the number of hermits one considers them so huge of a bio load on ones system, but rather in having so much larger a number of hermits greater too what your tank is in water volume, you have a situation most likely of a good number of hermits dying due to starvation as the same here goes with the snails. And if your so many snails with hermits, you have nothing but hermits left in your tank. One needs to stock their tanks not to cause any problems in its inhabitants from starving due to the lack of available foods. And you not want to over stock in its cleaning crew and fish bio load so you not find the need to over feed the system.

1 hermit is 1 too many!!!!! Hermits are reef destroyers so they are bad!!!!!!! lol
