How many hermits is to many??

I dont understand all the hermit crab hate. They are scavengers, just like any other crabs.

I have said this a few times, i agree....

People say that red is worst than blue legged, or blue is worst than red...The fact of the matter is, they are the same species of hermit crab, which is clibanarius and their color added to the name..Even the scarlet paguristes cadenati very reef safe indeed...

Same as lot of things we have in our aquaria, sometimes we get a rogue item that is different, but that does not mean they are all like that...You have to look at the general picture of a species, not each specific crab...Usually, if a hermit goes for something in the tank, its usualy because of a lack of either its own food source, or needs a bigger home...

Just my thoughts on the matter of course

Oh ya some hermit lovers in the house. :) I like hermits, they're cool. They help keep the tank clean also. Which is a bonus. Glad to have some pos feedback. Like Niko says, I'm sure there is a bad apple here and there.

I loved mine for the first two months I had them...they did an awesome job with algae. I am betting there is just not enough food in my new tank for them, which is probably why they went after the zoas. They definitely DID eat the polyps though...I watched more than one do it. Ultimately it's probably my fault for putting them in an environment w/o enough food...but I still am not a fan.

i am a hermit lover myself. i have jade, hawaiian zebra, scarlet, regular brownish, and blue in my tank and i love them all :hearts: . the only snail i've ever seen them eat was an astrea snail that flipped and i didn't notice it in time - but the crabs were fighting the nass snails for that guy so i know the crabs didn't do it... but i have a TON of shells in the tank, i just have a pile that's hidden from view so it's not an eyesore. i love the guys tho they are cute and fun to watch and do a great job cleaning up in the tank. and they have never touched any of my corals...

Niko probably said it better than i could... but you guys get the point.

I am in the UK aswell ( Staffordshire )....I feel your pain when it comes to the cost of marine life or equiptment here in England..we seriously get ripped off, compared to the cost of these items in the US, for example..

However...

Here is a place i have dealt with many times, and are resonably priced..
