How many Molly's to have in 10g tank?

Hello,

I recently added 4 Mollys to my 10G tank there are 3 females and one male I have discovered that I have 10 new borns now....

What is the maximum I can have?

My ammonia is 0 just checked but I really want to know whats the limit..

and what happens if there is over population?

I guess I will get more and more babies?

I would have to say none. They grow big, and will outgrow the 10g very soon, if they have not already. Sorry.
 
Mollies get too big for a ten gallon tank. If you can see if you can return them and get some other fish that are more appropriate for your size tank. There are several colorful tetras that do not grow too big that would work in your tank such as neons or cardinals as well as others. If you want livebearers you can try male endlers. They stay small and are colorful. They will be a greeat addition to your ten gallon after you return the mollies.

How about female endlers? :)
 
Yeah, Mollies can breed while they are young and small, but at full adult size they are, what? 2 1/2... 3 inches or better, depending on the variety?

Yeah, you can imagine how much space they will take up soon!!

My advice? Go with nano fishes. Tetras, endlers, small rasboras, pygmy or panda cories for bottom feeders (3 or more, since they like to school) or perhaps shrimp or a snail instead. That would provide lots of color and variety without outgrowing your tank or you bioload, methinks.

I wonder, can I breed endlers? in a 10g tank or its still too small?

Another thing...

one of my females molies is behaving strange, you know when the fish swims it makes that movement with their body?... well the female molly is making that movement but she isnt moving...is that a sign of a sickness?

Sounds like the "shimmies" to me. You have too many mollies in that tank.
 
Not at all. Endlers are small, but if you allowed them to breed, you'd soon have more than a 10-g could ever handle!! I'd go with a one-gender tank when it comes to ANY live-bearer species unless you have a willing outlet for any and all offspring (at least two LFS willing to buy them from you, for instance).
 
I think, depending on the type of mollies you have, you could keep 4 in one ten gallon tank. Just get a small 5 gallon tank or another 10 and put the babies in it untill they get to be about 4 months old, then sell them to friends, family, LFS, or give them away... That's what I do.
