How many moonlight gouramis?

Can adult moonlight gouramis be kept in groups or pairs? I believe I have a female right now, or a male who's not yet sexually mature. Eventually when the fish is big enough to be put in the 270gal without fear of being eaten, I'm going to do that. So would the extra room help to keep aggression at bay? Thanks.

I think the water space will keep the agression down enough. My moonlights will tolerate each other in my 55G but not in my 29G, so 270Gs should definitely provide enough space. I hope they breed for you!

I've never had much success keeping them in groups for long periods of time, but I'm very paranoid about fighting. Of the many gourami I've kept, the moonlights are some of the most aggressive for me. HTH

moonlight gouramis are pretty peaceful. It's the gold/blue/lilac/opaline/platinum ones and the dwarf ones that you have to worry about.
