How many of you use the EI method?

Sounds like you dont have enough co2. what type of algae is it? BBA i suppose. Lessen your photoperiod by 1 hour a day and start ei dosing. that should help.

buying 4dkh solution is so worth the few bucks....you dont have to sit there and measure, test, measure, test , measure, test until you get it.

One thing to think about as far as dosing methods, they all add pretty much the same things. Another thing: all dosing methods have nice examples of algae. They also have examples where the plants are doign well.

Is this not true?
I think everyone can conclude that these observations are indeed the case, common sense would therefore suggest:

It is not the dosing that causes the issues, algae etc.........rather some other factor. Lack of nutrients can cause algae, plant growth issues etc. However, not excess nutrients near as anyone has been able to definitely demonstrate.

So things light light and CO2 are the main players, if those are well balanced, then there is a huge amount of wiggle room with dosing ferts. What is a good method for light/CO2?

Low light, good rich CO2.
Dosing? Add water column ferts, and/or lots of fish and then sediment ferts as well.

This takes care of forgetfulness(sediment source) and allows the sediment source to last longer with water column ferts. I use EI and modify it, but I also have lower light these days and rich CO2 and sediment ferts.

It's not one thing that's the key really, it's everything:idea:
Holistic views are much better. Then you can understand all/any method and how each works.
