How many Oscars?

Maybe in the future. I need to measure how many inches i have between the back of the tank and the wall. Is there a powerful canister that is good for tight spaces?

The Fluvals are relatively slim front to back. I can't think of any others with that similar slim shape.

yeah i agree with reptile guy when it comes to filters. you could either A run 2 HOBs the best ones would be 2 ac110s. one packed with biomedia and some filter floss and the other for polishing and removing debris.

but with canasters they add a great deal of media for the bacteria to grow on just bc of the different chambers. i.e fluval 405. it is a great filter and i love it i have 3 on my 125.

with a full grown oscar you'll need a good bit of biomedia, bc the oscar puts off so much waste. id look into maybe just a small canaster filter and filling it up with just biomedia, and run floss in your hobs?

Canisters are also good for mechanical media, something oscars will also need. In a canister the water is forced through the media, in a HOB if the resistance is too high it will back flow over the intake pipe or over/around the media. This allows even better polishing in a canister. I fill one tray with as much polyester pillow stuffing as I can. This serves as a great fine mechanical/polishing media. If I did the same in a HOB the water would simply flow around it. Some people do a similar thing in HOBs, but I can guarantee you they are not cramming it as tightly as I am and still getting flow through, which means they are not getting as much particulare matter out.

Ill cycle the tank with my Emporer 400 and 280 then ill look into a canister filter.
