How many pounds of sand for a 10gallon tank?

I've got 10 lbs in my 10 gallon, and I think it's plenty. Others often suggest more, so that you can have up to 2 inches of substrate, but I've never seen the point of this.

Depends on how deep you want it. Sand weighs 100 lbs per cubic foot.

LxWxH (H is the depth of sand you want), all in feet X 100 = Lbs. of sand you need

Yep, as stated above....usually its about a pound per gallon.

hmm....i guess i just figured that because it was sand it would require more....now i need to find out what to do with 25 pounds of sand....
