How many Tetras in a 10 gallon tank?

happychem,

Love the picture of the tank. Looks beautiful. I see in the middle there are two clumps of plants, what are they? Also, how does your male betta get along with the other fish? Mine is in a 2 gallon container with a red melon sword, thinking of upgrading to a 5 gallon and adding a couple of cories, but haven't decided whether to add the cories or not. Anyway, love the tank and wish I had the bucks/patience to upgrade to a high light/CO2 system. Instead I baby my low light java moss, java fern, bronze wendti, and red melon swords along.

The plant in the middle is Riccia fluitans. It's a floating plant and doesn't grow roots, so I attached it to the bottoms of terracotta pots with a hairnet. It needs fairly high light and CO2 to grow submerged, but will grow floating with much less damands.

The betta gets along with the others fine. The bigger danger was with adding the rummynose tetras, in a fight between the two, the tetras win, they're so much faster. But since the betta was already in the tank the tetras came into his territory and behaved themselves.
