About 100kilos worth if you don't put water :)

Probably about 6 + 2 with water. Maybe even 8 + 3...

The problem with the question is that it just depends on your tiger barbs. In my first community tank I had a school of 8 tiger barbs that were totally uninterested in anything except themselves. I had pristella tetras, cories, bleeding heart tetras, and a gourami as well as a couple of syndontis that the idiots at the LFS said were cories and the ubitiquous iridescent shark (I was new). The next person tries the same thing and their barbs are terrors. They're unpredictable. I would try it and see how it goes but have a back-up plan to remove the cories if necessary. As far as stocking levels, I would go with at least 7 tigers. Like someone else said, I found it best when there was an odd number. I like big schools so I'd maybe go with 9barbs and 5 juli cories. Something like that. I would do my normal 30%+ water change once a week and I think it would be fine.

What I've found is that so much of fishkeeping is individual. What works for one person is a total disaster for another because there are so many variables. Fish are living organisms and therefore at times unpredictable. People have different water parameters, are better or worse at water changes and maintenance, and buy their fish from different sources at different levels of health and at different sizes. Tank placement, temperature of the tank and the room in which it's located, the substrate, everyone has a different combination and sometimes two people can do the same thing with vastly different results.

So when you put out a question on stocking levels there are bound to be many different opinions according to what has worked for people their experiences. Of course there are general guidelines and some things that just will not work but for every rule there seems to be an exception for someone and that's what makes it fun.

Whatever you do, I'd probably start with small tiger barbs and larger cories. That might (or might not) give the cories a slight edge in the beginning if your barbs are nippy.

Go for it and have fun!

I agree. I think 9 barbs and 5 cories would be OK but make sure the cories have some good hiding spots during the day.
