how much air?

hi, my 60litre tank is still cycling, but how much air do i need in the water?

i am using a fluval plus2 cartridge filter, which injects air by venturi, into the output flow, but i am getting small air bubbles in the water that look like dust, it makes the water appear a little dirty!

i have read this following statement on a website, and would like to know how well this works??

"If you have a current of water from a powerhead or other filter return running across under the surface of the water so that it ripples the surface without breaking the surface, you will provide sufficient aeration to the water."

how many fish will this method support, in a 60litre tank?
i dont want a seperate air pump/airstone in this tank if i can help it, as i am trying to cut down on noise.

any ideas?? thanx, giles :)
 
Don't worry about it, air doesn't need to be injected into the tank...the surface agitation is just so that gas exchange can occur between O2 and CO2. You don't need to add anything to your tank...
 
you'll be fine just with surface agitation in that size tank. another additional option is to drop your water level to just under the return of the filter, so when the water falls out of the filter it causes a few bubbles and some more agitation.
 
Yup. Any surface ripples mean that gas exchange is taking place. Bubblers etc... are useful when there is some sort of extreme circumstance and the O2 level drops. They can help speed up air exchange and equilibrium but once equilibrium is reached very little changes.
