how much ammonia produced ?

yes you could partly stock the tank and slowly add more fish.
however, the big question I have is..what are you planning to stock..the tank is approx 25 us gallons..
what are these 7-8 med (2"-3")fish you plan on adding?

i havent fully decided yet, although i have a shortlist of candidates.cardinal tetras, rummy nosed tetras, dwarf gourami, a betta and plattys,a small catfish, and possibly an angel, although im havent yet decided which to put in first. i thought id put in the more peacfull species, then when im stocking up, the larger fish

but thanks for laying my mind to rest in that respect.

thank for your help guys

p.s. im scottish, so i'll try(in the future) to stick to stating us gallons and of course watch my spelling! :)

most of the fish you listed should be okay..just be mindful of the stocking..ie angels don't get along with gouramis(general). angles also are prone to eating neons. but angels make a good centerpiece fish. as do gouramis. just not together..:)
not sure which small catfish you have in mind..there are a few that will work in that tank.
cardinals and neons are nice fish to have..tho lately I have had issues with neons.

there are other tetras you can consider..but watch the stocking quanitites..and remember tetras in general are schooling /shoaling fish.

I have a few 29 gallons that I keep angel pairs in with maybe an albino BN cat.

so you do have options.
