How Much Bio Filter is really needed?

This is a tad bit late I think but I would keep an uberclose watch on my ammonia and nitrate/nitrite levels (aka, testing twice a day) after adding these fish. I would also have water change stuff ready to go in case the tank goes through a mini-cycle due to the sudden addition of livestock (and therefor ammonia). I'd also feed all the fish about half their normal amount to help lower their overall ammonia output - I would do this for about a week or so. Not sure if that's all that's needed but it's what I would keep in mind to keep the tank stable/liveable while the bacteria catch up to the fish.

Provided there is enough media for them to grow on the biofiltration capacity can double every 24 hours. I doubt you'll have any issues ammonia buildup. I'd just do a water change the next morning after you add them and forget about it.

First, I would head over to MFK if you want 6 monsters in a 350g. This is going to be tight. You are going to need to upgrade the filtration, a Fx5 would help. If you had a monster sump with filter sock for a prefilter and moving bed K1 you could probably get away with it. The issue that you would face if something failed, what is your back up? Also with that kind of bioload a constant drip would help to keep nitrates down.

6 aros in a 350, I would think sump and 350, plus a power head to keep the water moving. The boys over in MFK may have better ideas.
