Just wondering how much the average 55g tank with gravel and water weighs.

625 pounds give or take.

its about 10lbs per gallon, and then about 1-2 pounds of gravel per gallon, so id say from 605lbs- 655lbs

Water at 72 degrees F is 8 pounds per gallon, so you are at 440 pundsto start, plus the weight of the tank, plus the gravel, decoration and any hood/cover light assembly.

550-600 is where most will come in, plus the weight of the stand.

I was led to believe water was about 8.5 lbs and actually a wee bit more....

water is roughly 8.5 lbs per gallon US... it is around 10 lbs per gallon UK
