how much is too much $$$?

I have a planted 29 gallon. Spent roughly $100 on the tank, hood, net and some misc junk that I have as backups, like a Penguin 170 and an All-Glass submersible heater and a 17 watt strip light. Then, I ordered so much crap from Big Al's it's not even funny. Two Penguin 125s, a Coralife FW CF strip, 2 Ebo-Jager 50W heaters, a Hagen Master Test Kit,, food, meds, lots of plant fertilizers, then I bought plants and fish, picked up Polyester batting from Wal-Mart, bought and algae sponge.... So far, I am probably out around $700 or more and obviously since I want to keep plants and fish healthy, that total will grow. That's life.

Wow, I'll have to show this to my husband so he can stop nagging me ;) !! I've bought all my tanks used, I spent less than 500 total on my 180 gallon that I just got :D It does prove that fish-keeping can be a very expensive hobby!!!

Well let's see what I've spent on my 55 heavily planted tank that I'm not even near through buying stuff for.

Used tank and stand: $100
Ehiem Thermofilter: $350
CO2 tank and regulator: $150
260 watt lights: $150
Needle valve: $30

I still need a bubble counter, about 80 pounds of flourite, plants to go heavily planted, and all the fish.

So yeah it is expensive.

I'm probably forgetting something too.

****, after seeing some numbers on other tanks, i feel a lot better. haha
hopefully, i'll be moving up in a few months or years too.
