how much salt to add on inital set up

How much salt should i add to my newly filled 30G aquarium. I know to use a hydrometer for the final tweeking of salinity or specific gravity, but I was hoping there was a "ball-park" or rough guideline to get me close.

Check the salt packaging. Most have a general cups/gallon guideline--I don't honestly know, because I have a 65 gallon tank that I fill with water, then add salt. Since it typically has a few gallons of SW leftover from the last change, I don't really know how much it takes--sorry!

Instant Ocean brand says about half a cup per gallon. HTH.
