Just a quick question. I have a coworker that may want to get rid of his salt 55. It has a matching stand/light/HOB filter. 20 lbs of live rock and some CC. no fish or inverts. I know will have to tear down due to torrible undergravel system and owner lack of maintance. How much to Offer?

see how much he wants then work from there.

new glass 55g tanks are around $150...
stands can range from $80-$200 (or more)
filters can range from $20 - $200
live rock is usually 3-6 a pound but can vary on kind and condition...

just some ideas... and those are all prices of NEW stuff... and it varies on what kind of stuff you get.

i would offer maybe $100-$300 and see what happens?? will be easier if you are given a starting price.

What lighting does it come with? If it is halides or t5's the price goes way up.

I wish it had a halides system but it is just a strip light. ugh.

55g kit- tank, heater, HOB filter, light+lid- $100 at meijer in detroit
2x4 for stand - $20
20 ilbs of live rock- $100-150+
Crushed coral and UGF is garbage to me so -$0

I'd offer $200 and go from there.

But what the stuff is worth to YOU depends on where you live. stuff costs more in some places and less in other.

55 Gal

I paid $30.00 dollars for a used 55 gal tank with the standard hoods and light.
Now this was a bare tank and had a few scratches in the glass.
I just reversed the long side and put the scratches in back with the background.:read:

Cool I think i will start at 100 and work up. This is after i see it. I may see it and walk away. Thanks for the ideas.
