Mine take care of business in a few minutes - it's really more a function of how much you feed them. I prefer to do more frequent, smaller feedings with a variety of foods.

for some reason, my fish seem to all take thier time. the rasboras will only eat little flakes, and it takes them a while to collect them all. my betta is a real "hit and a miss" feeder, and my pleco and snail take ages to finish off their algae discs.

If they can't eat the flakes or floating food in less than a minute, I feel I've fed too much. Sinking foods take a bit longer.

in my 20 gallon, my angel eats well, as does the platy.
two of my black skirts are complete pigs... they eat so much sometimes i think they will explode-go figure they are the biggest tetras in the tank
three black skirts eat normally
one is anorexic but has recently started to eat a bit more than before

in my 90 gallon
the angels eat fine
the black skirts eat pretty agressivley
the corydoras eat when they fee like it
and my blood parrot eats the fastest and the most out of all of them, but that because he is the only one that will eat the big cichlid pelets. the angels just turn their nozes up at them and then eat the flakes lol

My two four-inch goldies, you can only imagine... They can get a "pinch" in one mouthful. That's why I like goldfish pellets better.

My Black Phantom Tetras are voracious eaters, they'll attack pieces of flake food like their pirahna cousin would to another fish and then swim away, then come back again. i usually take 3 or 4 good sized flakes, then crush them with my fingers because they don't like to eat big flakes. usually finish them in 30 seconds but almost always less than a minute.
