How much water do you change every week?

I have to do 50% every four days on all four of my tanks (I revolve ) I do this because my tap water has nitrates 20-40 the best reading I ever got was a 15 :swear:

Just wondering what your guys schedule is. PLEASE list the size of your tank in your post.

I do 50% ish weekly ish on all my FW tanks and 25% weekly on my reef tank.

I usually do almost half. And that is for the 10 gallon. That is done every week. The 5 gallon I don't do as much and maybe about 1/4 or so every week.

My nitrate levels never go down so I think I have it in my water but I never check....they haven't seemed to have an issue and my snails are doing ok so I am guessing the nitrate level isn't to bad. Last time I checked was a few months back and they were at 50 ppm i think.

I try to do 2 tanks one day and the other 2 another day so it's not quite so much work. And I'm hoping to get a Python or similar product in the near future to cut down on the bucket lugging.
When I had my 2.5g running, I'd change 50-75% weekly.

It really depends on my stocking and feeding regimine for each tank as to how much water I change.

I used to do 1/3 per day on my 60 gallon. Because my work load has been extremely heavy lately, I had not done any changes in 2 weeks. The fish get fed heavily and I was concerned I might need to do several changes today (finally got a lighter load). I tested the water for nitrites and nitrates this morning dreading what the test results would be. I use the API liquid test kits and my solutions are quite new. Surprisingly, both tests came back reading 0. To me that just means undetectable by the tests.

I thought about this surprise and realized the most likely reason was my deep sand bed. It is at least 4" in all areas. At times I see gas bubbles escaping from the sand bed. I do stir it gently every couple weeks and then it takes a few days for the bubbles to start again.

The sand bed must be working like a marine tank sand bed. The tank has 7 full grown angels (body size a bit larger than a silver dollar coin plus they are superveils), 4 cory cats and numerous MTS. Were it not for the deep sand bed the test results would have been disturbing.
