how much water do you put in rubbermaid

Oh no, I don't wheel them around. I have a Mag pump in each tub and I hook them up to my Python hose when it comes time to refill.

You'd need some heavy duty casters to roll easily with all that weight...

I tried those square-ish trashcans with the built-in wheels. They collapsed where the wheel-well surrounded the wheels. Too much weight. I only use round trashcans, now.

just a side note: Rubbermaid containers are not very safe for fish (or humans for that matter!) they leach carsinogens into the water, and have harmful resins in tehm that can harm fish(especially when new). The soft plastic that they are made out of makes them dangerous. So I'd try something like 5 gallon pales that are well washed out. They are made out of a hard plastic that does not leach chemicals.

There are a large number of us who use these Rubbermaid trashcan to age water, and I've never, ever heard of a single report of trouble. On what do you base your claims that the plastic from which these are made is dangerous?. I think you are wrong in calling these containers dangerous.

I probably was a little hasty in calling them dangerous, but they do have harmful affects. The Government of Canada's Cancer Research center has classified that all soft plastics are harmful to human heath, and thus even more so to fish health. It's more of a precusion, than a warning. Sorry to make it sound so bad, that wasn't my intention! And I don't mean to offend anyone!

PS-and we may be talking about different products as well. there are blue stock barrels that are completely safe becasue they are made out of hard plastic rather than soft.

I use a 50 gallon Roughneck for a goldfish tank, I only filled it 3/4 of the way full because it has vented handles... If using a square containter be sure to brace the sides up, I use cinderblock to do this.
