How often do you test your water? I do so about once a week afer I do a water change. Should I be doing more? Or less?

I personaly test twice a week - once after water changes to make sure they have had the desired effect and then once during the week to make sure the nasties are not accumulating
I regulary test, Amonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, PH, KH and GH.
About once a month i test phosphates and iron (planted tank)

On my older established tanks I only test if something seems amiss. On newly setup tanks or tanks with recently changed bioloads I'll test as often as 2x daily.

I only ever test when I am doing an experiment, or when something has changed the water quality,eg power failure. Other than that on a well established tank if regular maintenace is done nothing should change too much and the need for testing is not needed Imho, that is taking for granted that your filter is adequate. ;)

Ditto

When cycling - I test twice a day.

When not - every three days or so just to make sure the bio filter is still running good. Unfortunately, I've been bitten by MURPHY's LAW too many times. I also have one of them little automatic ammonia alert thingies that I hang on the side of the tank. I don't trust it - but it's just one more little line of protection that I use.

yup only when i just set it or change something like adding rocks or wood. sometimes i test when i get a new shipment in so i can aclimate accordingly but once everythings set up and running i rarely test.
