I was feeding twice a day for about the last three months, and live feeders once a week, suddenly my water has become cloudy.
Previously to this I had no water problems,I have cut back to once a day feeding, and i'm not going to feed live fiid for a while.
Is once a day feeding acceptable?

P.S.I feed hakari gold cichlid pellets,as much as they wil eat in 3 minuets.

well from my understanding i think you are over stocked, how big are those fish? i only feed my fish once a day, i feed them large flakes by tetramin

yea i would have suggested that also but i didnt read your specs. i have a 55 gallon, and i have a topfin 60 and a aquaclear 500 running on it, i highly recommend aquarclear. i also have a undergravel filter. and my fish are doing fine

Your filter cannot handle the fish load. Add another filter.

You can feed everyother day with no problems.

I would have to agree, ideally you would like a filter that does 10x an hour turnover which would be about 550 gallons per hour, and the whisper 60 is about 330 gph, and thats before adding media, after you add the filter cartridges its probbably more on the lines of 250-280 gph. And I hope I dont sound like a jerk, Im just lookin out for you and your fish, you will have to be changing about 50% of your water a WEEK to keep all those fish in that 55g. The oscar will outgrow that tank, he will get 12"+ and the tank is only 12" deep, the midas and pleco will also both get larger than 12" and outgrow that tank.

f you kept the JD the convict, the pictus and the african you would be Ok and could probbably add another pictus or JD with no Ill effects.

heck id dump the whisper and get a pequin or emp or somthing...i got a whisper 40 and it sucks...and i hate the filterpads....it barly does the job and its only on a 29 gallon tank
