Hi,

I recently just lost one of my female betta fish in my 10 gallon fish tank. If that wasn't bad enough, there's still two left. The problem then is that one of the two is constantly hiding from the other. I'm worried, that it's stressing that one betta out. I've considered adding another type of fish but I think I really want to add another female betta.

Does anyone know at what age most bettas are sold at petsmart? I've seen them before and they seem so small to the one's I currently have. I'm worried that if I just put it in there with the full grown one's immediately it won't stand a chance.

any chance you have a small tank to keep it in for a week or so just to make sure its not carrying any diseases? My thoughts are the ones at petsmart are pretty young.... my female betta was tiny when i got her and she's more than doubled in size since then. If you can get a small tank just to build up some strength, there's probably a good chance she'll be alright when you introduce her to your other two bettas

I was wondering the same thing today. I have a male betta, I can show you photos of then and now. I got him in March, and he was decent sized. Im guessing they're a couple of months old when you see them at the pet store. As bad as it sounds I was trying to figure out how much longer I can expect Merlot, my betta, to live. (shhh don't tell him, but I am looking into either replacing him with a dwarf puffer or a trio of endlers when he does eventually go naturally.) I am thinking mine was about 3 months old when I got him. Although that is just a wild guess. If that's the case, mine is 11 months old now? Here are some photos:

The day I got him (beginning of March 2007):

Hmm, I predict a second tank in your immediate future...
