I have had my boy for around 18 months but just wondered how old these guys can get...... Anyone had theirs for years.... And what sorta size....

Mine is a
Cherax crayfish and is the most beautiful shade of royal blue after a shed 2 days ago.....

Who has the oldest cray on the forum......

i have had mine for less than a year. was about 2" when bought and now they are about 7" long without the claws.

Ive had a creek cray (local) it GREW something fast from 1" to 6-7 w/o claws in about 5-6 months then died during a molt? it sucked

my buddy know has my other cray or lobster from walmart a blue one and its goin on 7-8" w/o or with claws? I dont remember and its huge at 1" to its size now in about 5-6 months.

My Cherax crayfish is about 10-11 months old, and should have another year or so to go. He's about 8" and, yes he is aggressive.

Pixl8r - you think they only live around 2 years...... My guys is as healthy as and he is most def around 18 months oldish......

If that is true I'm worried as I thought I'd have him a lot longer...... He is my favourite tankmate.....

i just done a quick search and found this so i copied and pated here...................They shed their exoskeletons in proportion to their rate of growth, as often as three or four times a year. The average life expectancy for a crawdad is about three years, but the "granddaddies" may live to be seven or eight.

am sure in captivity it will be shorter as with any creature in captivity.
