a quarantine tanks is an excellent idea..and critical to have when you are going to introduce new fish to an established tank.
however. once the infestation occurs..a hospital tank may not be the best option..other fish are likely going to be exposed to the ich.(they drop off to reproducein the substrate).while ich does take hold on stressed fish..it can also be introduced when adding infected fish. and my affect a healthy population in a well maintained tank.
scaleless fish pay close attention to the dosing..
ick will stress the fish and weaken the host allowing possible secondary infections.ick can also infest the gills of a host and not appear as the normal 'salt spinkles'
when it infests the gill it will affect the fishes ability to 'breathe'.
