How quiet is AquaClear?

My is perfectly quiet!

i have an AC mini (older version, its now called the 20 but its the same thing) and its absolutely silent! i love it!

I'd buy 2 AC 20s. Its always better to have 2 filters.

:iagree: Two 20's will give you outstanding filtration. In a 20g tank, the larger ones can disrupt the substrate if you turn them up too high. I've had several AC's on several different tanks and I love them! They are quiet as stone and my water is always crystal clear.

Plus i think another advantage of ACs is that theyre area for media is really spacious. my Aqueon filter isnt very deep(space between tank and wall, not sure if thats depth) but ACs have a ton of space inside.

as long as you keep the water level in the tank level with the lip of the filter and as long as you keep up on filter maintenance and keep that impeller and shaft clean and clear and take care not to bend the shaft, then you shouldn't hear much at all, maybe a little vibration noise if you are quite near the tank.

i have an AC 110 on my 55 gal and i love it. the flow is actually enough to drag the filter floss out of the top of the media stack if i don't weigh it down with some biomax, lol. never had a problem with rattling lids on any of the 4 various sized AC's i've owned.

I agree . I had 2 AC 30's on my 20 gal they worked very wellthe only thing you hear is the water if you don't keep the level up. I have 1 AC 20 on my 10 gal qt and I have a corresponding filter on my 36 BF with my HOT Magnum. just to keep filter media cycled. It's in my bedroom and I don't here a thing..

I'll use coral sand, so I'll get two AC 20's not to disrupt the substrate. I hope they will be as silent as my Eheims. Based on what I've read here I'm sure they will.

When you first start it up, there may be a slight hum, but even that seems to go away after it runs for a day. That's what I've noticed with mine at least.
