How soon to drain?

Hey all, the nights are getting colder and the days are getting shorter . Summer's coming to an end :sad .

Anyway, I'm going to be pulling all my guppies out of my pond soon and the floating plants as well and I was wondering how soon I should be draining it. Also, what else should I do to protect the liner over the winter? What do I do with the irises that are partially submerged?

don't really sure about the guupies, how cold is the water now? if below 65F i'd take them in now.

as for the liner and the plants, keep the pond filled up this will stop the liner drying out. cut the leaves of the irises down to about 4-6inches and they should last the winter.
