 I need to add more pool filter sand to my established/stocked tanks. The level has decreased a bit over time due to vac-ing out the poo. In some places it is getting pretty shallow and is not helping my plants stay rooted at all....How can I add more sand without having to remove all the fish? Is it possible? Thanks! :)

I would worry about the sand getting in their gills if I just dumped it in there.......

I would think you could add it by the cup. I do this with my eco complete. I fill a coffee cup up with it and slowly submerse it in the water but don't turn the cup over until I am right where I want it to be. Then I slowly add it to the spot that needs it. It still gets a bit cloudy but the filter takes care of it pretty quickly.

that sounds like it could work. Maybe if I put some tank water in the cup of sand first, so it is already wet it may not "float" so much.

I have been fighting nasty slime mold so when I vac it up every week I get quite a bit of sand with it...time to go buy more sand!

Thanks Snoopy! :)
I was really fearing that I would have to try to catch all of the fish and remove them. That would be awful!

i would clean it very well ahead of time and just use your hand and pick up a clump and drop it near the bottom.

or just do what snoopy said, that might work better.
