How to attach a store bought aquarium background?

It does not look very nice right now and there are no fish in it (I am fishless cycling it) but here is a pic:


There are two lighting fixtures that provide the tank (ten gallon) with 36 watts that are usually on the tank but they are not on it right now.

the cooking oil isnt a good idea, it can go rancid on ya vaseline wont. JMO

It is only a week into the cycling but I am already seeing lots of nitrite.

Looks good. I like the background. I tried a blue one on mine but I didn't like it.
