How to attach marimo to wood

Marimo balls will never attach wood/rock so sewing thread will not work. These are algae, not moss. You could use fishing line but that is pretty ugly...so I would definitely agree with coach_z and say crazy glue.

check again. if held in place long enough and kept healthy enough cloadophora aegagropila will grow on wood/surfaces/etc.. some folks have even complained about it just happening.

Really? I find that hard to believe as they are not meant to grow that way, their natural tendency is to be mobile and roll around. Do you have a link to the thread that shows this? How long was it in contact with the object? I would be extremely surprised if you could get a marimo ball to attach to an object let alone before the sewing thread disintegrated.
