I currently have 19 celestial pearl danio. Some are males and some females according to the anal fin id. I have had my tank at 23oC and full of java moss for a month now and I've seen no fry. What techniques have you found that works for breeding them, and subsequently saving the fry? I've done some research and some people use multiple tanks and switch tanks every few days. Others separate the males and females and put them together and wait until tehy spawn then they intervene. I don't have that many tanks or much time, so what strategy can I use to breed them?
[br] Also my fish are super shy. How can I reduce the shyness? Thanks in advance PS. I can't seem to insert line breaks, so I appologize for hte poor readability

I hear ya about the tanks and the time! This is what worked super for me. Still takes time to collect the eggs though.

I think the celestial pearl danios are not quite so shy when other small midlevel/toplevel swimming fish are added. But when breeding them, you can't have any other fish in there. Mine were terribly shy too! it's a shame because they are so pretty!

Would Trigonostigma hengeli be good dither fish for CPDs? I'm interested in breeding them too.

Full grown they could get to be 1.5" which is bigger than the cpd's. While you're wanting to get eggs and fry from the cpd's I would totally advise against any other fish, including a little oto.
