How to dispose of large fish?

We have collected composte here. I always add the fish to the composte. I figure that way they can help some future plants grow.

So here's here's what I am thinking, using the weber, stacking up quite a few sticks of oak and juniper and having a pyre, after all that is how I would rather be creamted, out under the sky. Yeah silly maybe, but a loved one is worth it. If, God forbid, Bucky, Satchel, Grimmy or Attila should pass on from this world, I think I will try the pyre.
I think that's a wonderful idea and a very honorable way to pay tribute to your fish.

I never thought about cremating my fish before. That's not a half bad idea.

I admit I'm someone who refuses to throw out my dead pets with the rest of the garbage.

Of course, this makes it difficult during winter....you end up with some interesting freezer-friends until the ground is soft.

If your going to BBQ it, I recomend Lemmon Pepper or JD BBQ sauce.

edit: sorry I could not resist, but I know that fish on the barbie would make me hungry even if it was my old angle friend!

In terms of composting at home, it's best not to include meats/animals or fats. They can attract unwanted pests, take longer than plant material to decompose, and can negatively affect the microbes that do the work. However, burying fish should be fine, and can help plants directly through the soil.
