How to fix the economy

wow, way to solidly embed politics into a halfway humorous thread that named nobody in particular. good job.

I did leave names out of this thread :lipssealedsmilie:

That would actually be $40 trillion total.
WRONG^^^
If my math is correct it takes a 1000 millions to make 1 billion. So it would also take 1000 billions just to make 1 trillion. HUGE difference.

Cough, cough. That means that one million millions is a trillion. So sploke is right, and you are the one who is WRONG. (But your math is correct.)

This is pretty much like the plan that is in place.

Give lots of money away to people that will spend it.

I don't think many working people over the age of 50 can afford to stop working, even for a million dollars. So once they are not working we will have to support them when the money is gone.

The problem, which I don't think can be fixed without things getting lots worse, is that America has more money going out that it has coming in. The hopes that America help build these other countries so that they will want the goods and services that America has. While this plan sounds good, what has been forgoten is that while new consumers for American goods and services are being created, current consumers are being lost.

We all want our country to do well, but most of us also want low prices.

This is also kind of like the LFS versus the big box stores. The more we buy from the chains the more we will lose local fish stores. One day we will all be saying, "There are no local fish stores - what happened".

American knew years ago to buy American to keep America strong. Too few were willing to pay the price.

Now we need to buy local to keep local fish stores strong.

To everyone who says buying American will save this country, I think you are dreaming sorry. We need to embrace the world economy or we will not be able to keep up with the economies that do. We have to learn to adapted to the new times. There are a lot of things we need to work on but I dont think buying American is a problem. I own a Honda Civic but it was built in America, I bought it at a car dealer that is in America that gives an American a job and pays taxes to our goverment. We must continue to trust the free market.

Buying American is a great idea; the Japanese have been doing it for years. That's why Honda Civic's are made in this country.
Keep buying the low-quality imported merchandise that Wal-Mart sells (so you can "live better", then replace the junk in a couple years when it wears out or breaks) and eventually they'll be the only place left to shop. I've seen this process in action right here. Several other retailers have gone out of business, and if they continue at the present rate in 5-10 more years they'll be the only ones left. Think their prices will be low then?

I am not saying to buy at the store that rolls back prices. I would ask you not to buy from them (i don't like the way they do business) but i don't think buying American goods over foreign goods is going to help us. I just don't think buying American goods will save us. I like to buy quality goods no matter where they were made.

I got a better idea, FIRE all the teenagers who work and go to high school, and give those Jobs to people out of work who have kids and bills. Not some stupid kid who's gonna go out and spend it all on stupid junk.
