I'm not looking to get 100% diffusion, the idea popped into my head and I had everything I needed around me.

no prob but you already have most of what you need to convert the set up to a reactor. if you have an old siphon sitting around you may want to look at the diy reactor.
Add another sponge over the outflow and you got yourself more diffusion.

A Whisper 20, but I am about to upgrade to a Penguin 150 in a couple of days. But I have a concern that the Bio-Wheel will gas off alot of CO2.
If you will switch the filter then get one of those small canister filters. You can get even more diffusion that way.
I plan on upgrading to a 29 or 30 gallon tank in the next month or so, and the only canister filter I could find that is not too expensive for me is the Rapids Mini Canister Filter, and that only goes up to 20 gallons capacity.

got no experience with the penguins. but you hear everyone saying that its best not to use any bio wheels in a planted tank with co2.. Why not have 2 filters. one toms rapids the other the current AC. Or sell the AC and you can get a canister filter new for around $80 shipped or find a used one.
