How to increase suction

Just picked up an Aqueon water changer. It has the 50' Hose. I have one tank up stairs. It works fine on that one. The problem is: I also have a tank down in the basement. I was pretty skeptical if it would suck the water up with that much head. It comes all the way up the steps and stops within inches of the sink.

Do any of you guys have any ideas on how to increase the power?

I do have a drain in the basement. Today I drained the water the old way, then used the Aqueon to fill the tank. This was much easier then the old way. No more 7 gallon jugs down the steps at least. :grinno:

I doubt that it will pull it that high, and if it did it would cost a bunch in wasted water. I always just toss the end of mine in the flower bed outside and use the faucet to fill. Much faster that way and no wasted water.

You could use the water changer to fill the hose, but then drain it into the drain in basement(assuming it is lower than your tank).

Even when I do get one of those type of things, I won't drain the tank that way. It's just a huge waste of water. I just want it to fill

I use my home built "python" from my basement sink to fill and drain my tanks which are all upstairs. Works great.
