How to insulate aquarium...?

You know those windshield reflectors? I got a huge one on clearance at an auto parts store, was originally $17 - I got it for $6. I swear, the thing was made for a Hummer or something. Anyway, I cut it up and taped it to the sides of my tank (on the outside, obviously) then put a blanket on top. Works like a charm, if you get a warm blanket (such as flannel) especially so.

IMO---Sheet of styrofoam would be best. Just cut to size and tape.glue to three sides.

PS--Fiber glass is OK to use---The old filter foam I used when i was young was fiberglass.

Any insulation will help, but that stuff is designed to go into a building wall or roof cavity. It's pretty much loose glass fibres, so attaching to a tank is tricky.

Some sheets of polystyrene, or some sort of insulating blanket will work better.

Not sure if you can get something call "hot water cylinder wrap". It's like an insulated material that's designed to wrap around a hot water heater. It would work around 3 sides of your tank just the same, and reduce the heat loss considerably.

Throwing a blanket over the tank at night has to help too.

Anything that keeps the coldest air away from the glass of the tank is going to slow down heat loss.

No idea where to buy the wrap from. Did a search and didn't find anyone selling it.

It's expensive from what I fund people saying, not worth it.
I'm just gonna get the foam boards.

Not any more than other fiber/foam insulations, if memory serves but def foam board used to insulate siding/stucco would be cheaper.

Yea, got the boards, 4ft by something. Got two 6packs, seems like I only needed one though, lol.

Pics later on, tanks look funny, lol.
My Gourami was 'feeling' the white, too cute.
