how to keep decorations from losing color

hi guys....first post

i have alot of decorations in my tank and ive noticed that it only takes a few weeks for the paint to start peeling off leaving bland grey ugly decrations...ive only tried this on one decoration but it seems to have worked so far....

i used my finger to spread 100% clear silicone as a light protective barrier....i let it cure for 2 days and it seems to be working....

id like to know if anybody else has used any other methods to keep decorations looking new

yes...most are commonly sold in every lfs ive been in

You silicon idea is bright. My first thougth was you are buying cheap stuff as decoration. If this isn't the case, watch out for any fish that nibbles over them and peel the painting off. Unlikely but possible.
