How to keep my water black...

Try removing your carbon first. Then if your still not happy with it. Go to your local store with gardening supplies and get the sphagnum moss. I believe it also lowers your pH a little, just so you know.

thanks guys, i have a bunch of wood in my tank but all the tannins have leached out already, i thought i would find peat moss at a aquarium store, that is sold and packaged by some aquarium supplies company, are you sure this stuff is safe? should just like, take a hand full and put it in one of my filter baskets?

EDIT: also, will there any negative effects to removing my carbon? will the peat moss take effect if it is in the filter along with carbon?

thanks guys, i appreciate all the help

I use it in several tanks. Just make sure its 100% sphagnum moss with no fertilizers. Its VERY cheap from the garden store. You can put it in a media bag in your filter.

Take the carbon out. It's really only filtering out the color that you want to keep. Most only use to help with an odor or to remove meds. It should not have any effect on your tank.
