How to lessen the flow of a HOB?

Hey guys, I'm worried that my Aquoen Quietflow 10 is causing too much current in my 5 gallon. I currently have a sponge over the intake so some baby shrimp can survive, and I need to find a way to turn down the current it creates. Any help would be great,

Well the sponge over the intake will lower the flow the denser it gets (or the hard it gets for water to quickly pass through). So if you wrap a rubber band around the sponge to compress it you should be able to lower the flow more. I know it works with Penguin and Aquaclear filters, not sure about the intake for an Aqueon though.

If all else fails you can cut off one of the fins on the impeller.. Just a thought

You can also shove a sponge in the part between the intake and the filter pad.
