you should beat it, that should do the trick. If the tank is over 100gallons he should be ok. :) there you happy common how could that not be a joke. ;)

This is about the dumbest, cruelest idea I've heard on this forum. I was waiting for a smiley face or something (indicating a joke), but can't see any indication of a joke. Please don't forget people that new fishkeepers are constantly reading what is written here. Some take very seriously what is said, and mimick other's suggestions, even teaching others to do the same!

The next time you have a fish that needs to be more aggressive, TONO, try beating yourself in the head first! Then if your tank is over 100 gallons, then throw yourself in and drown. Man I'm really at a loss when reading some of these posts! :mad2

On a lighter note, Rob P, you may have to wait on them to grow up a bit for full aggression to be evident (don't know their sizes) and you have to understand that every fish is an idividual. It may be wise to throw in a juvinile JD, so the Grey Devil (is this a correct name?) continues to feel superior and doesn't have to demolish the intruder. Understand that some aggression is normal when establishing dominance. Just make sure things don't get out of control. Some individuals just can't compete!

I think for anyone of average intelligence it would be obvious that Tono is joking. Do you honestly think your response is any better? Wishing that someone would drown...that's really "Christian" of you.

I thought that was such blatant asinine humor as to not need any smilies to show it as such. :thud:
Only a complete moron could take that advice as literal ;) .

Now as to the actual questions at hand...

Why?
Either the fish are compatible or they are not, why try to force incompatible tankmates together? Its just asking for trouble and cruel to the fish.

Why?
Feeders are only good as a occasional treat IMO, and only if properly quarantined or bred -n- raised yourself. If your JD doesn't want to eat'em, why bother?
Does one fish eating a smaller fish excite you, turn you on?
If so then you need counseling.

Now...
If you did want to try and raise a more aggressive, aggressive fish, you need to start young.
Keep'em by themselves in a tank just a little larger than minimum, tease them and make them work to get their food at feeding time, start with feeders early on and make sure their slow and stupid and last but not least...
You need to be a irresponsible, inhumane, sadomasochistic personality type :( .

Boy you guys seem to want to perpetuate this form of humor. Calling someone an moron for taking this serious is just not good sense! There are tons of new fishkeepers every day who follow "jokes" because maybe they don't understand someones irony. Take for instance a person from another country who doesn't understand english perfectly. Do you REALLY want to call these people morons?

As for YoFishBoy, your comment about telling someone to drown themselves not being very Christian is CORRECT! I apologize about being upset to the point of saying something so stupid. The fact is I really don't want anyone to do something like that! I just was upset about the mention of being cruel to fish (or any pet) which is no excuse! I am humilliated at my own response this time, and hope that You, Tono, and everyone else will forgive me for what I said. :(

Back to the comment, though, I will say that I didn't see it as a blatant joke, and now that I have thought about it I believe it may mean to "beat on" the glass of the aquarium, which is what I have seen countless people do in LFS's to incite a reaction from aggressive fish! I believe this is an inappropriate action for fishkeepers and some will believe it's OK unless we give "real" answers to questions such as this post. So if this post is so "obviously" commical, then I guess I may be one of those "morons" who didn't get it! Most people have a smiley follow such comments!

BTW: YoFishBoy....thanks for keeping me accountable!

I find it really funny, it takes the slightest thing to set people off in this forum.       And yes it was a joke. But at the end of my post I gave him good information, devils do not do well with other tank mates unless the tank is 100+ gallons. I also said that because the tank that he is keeping that devil in is too small, and I think he already knows the answer to his question.

I actually tried so hard to see if you were joking Tono, that I looked up your personal profile and saw that you are around 20 yrs old, and then looked up several of the posts you started and saw several questions/posts that led me to believe that you were fairly new to fishkeeping (this is not a perfect method, mind you) but I was trying to understand whether you were joking or not. Then I got to thinking what other new fishkeepers would think if they read this and got upset....granted....FAR TOO UPSET! Maybe I'm stressed...I don't know! Anyways, I hope you accept my apology, but also try to be more careful with your replies. God bless buddy!

No, not really, its just I had to comment on someone going ballistic on a what was obviously crude humor.

Smilies present and accounted for in my post  ....

I'm sorry you took that personally and had to remark, I meant it as a joke! I was simply trying to make others laugh at previous entries!

Sorry, thought you understood my crude irony! ;)
