I have to take issue with this comment:
One fish eating another fish does excite me. I am in this hobby for several reason, but one of the main ones is to observe animal behavior. I love it. Breeding behavior, feeding behavior, any kind of behavior. I agree in condeming the practice of "making a fish more agressive", but to suggest there is something sick with enjoying the natural feeding behavior of our charges is not well thought out. With that said, I realize you were hot under the coller about other issues and maybe didn't think that comment through. Agree? Disagree?

I use feeders occasionally and promote the responsible feeding of feeders.
But if his fish doesn't normally eat'em, for whatever the fishes reason, and he wants his fish to be more aggressive and eat feeders, then I must ask "Why bother?", and hence the next question. So what I was getting at was, is his desire just to feed the fish or to watch another creature die for pleasure?
If his JD doesn't want to eat feeders, then he is trying to encourage unnatural behaviour in his particular fish.

if your JD is still a juvenile, then wait till he/she matures and you'll see drastic changes in personality and behaviours of all kinds e.g. Feeding and aggression.
Your JD may then not tolerate any tankmates and munch feeders to your hearts content, then again it may not, it may be a mild mannered easy going JD. Not likely being a JD (easy going mild mannered that is).

wow fellas take it easy. i dont want any of my fish to die or be killed i have had one jack in with the devil that was aggessive enough to where the devil and him just lived in harmony on either side of the tank i had them in. i was wondering if there is a way to raise another, to live with devil of course not in the 30 gal tank, the devil is only in there because he tried to kill everything, this fish just killed my soapdish crabs that were both about 5 inches shell dia. so dont think im tring to start like a fish fighting ring or something. i just want to have more than 1 fish in my 150 gallon tank im buying in may. thanx
anyone have info on this to make them a little more aggressive? i will not let them fight if my devil starts to have a problem with the new dempsey i will take it out, i will be mad if anything happens to my fish they are like kids!!!!!!!!
