how to price used books?

amazon also takes i think its like 20% for selling it as well plus they dont always give you enough to cover the shipping cost. though jeta is right books can go media mail cheap. cl might be a better option and see how it goes it might take months as well on amazon before they are all sold off as well.
 
Yeah, looking at Amazon...I'm thinking it wouldn't be worth it. They have a 15% commission on book sales, .99 per transaction fee, 1.35 closing fee. For a book that you may get 2.00 for naw, not sure it would be worth it all. Half.com does have the 15% commission also, and they have shipping reimbursement also, it doesn't cover all the shipping cost and I can't find were it says how much they actually do reimburse. Shipping of both places say's 3.99?

I was thinking about making "bundle packs" and putting them on Craigs list, not really wanting to go the ebay route either because of the way they charge.

Yea, but spending the extra couple bucks is worth it to me as I dont have to leave the house.
 
Donate them. I set up an account at the used book store closet to my school in the name of the English dept. We accept all donations of books, which I then take down to the store once a month. The teachers use the store credit to buy books for our classrooms and library. :)
 
I found out there is a half price books about 35 miles from me (in the town with my LFS :) ) and they buy used books, of course it all depends on condition, demand, and everything as to what they give..but hey anything for an excuse to go to the LFS right!!!

That is a good idea too, I'll call the school and see if they have anything like that here.
 
HA! There is a commercial law book from 1892, it is in great condition with a leather cover...going to keep that one (just cause I wanna). I just thought it was kinda cool that it is in such great shape and that old!
 
There are also several sites that allow you to trade books--you list what you have, send it out and get credit to spend for other books, or straight trade with others.

I donate most of my the books I don't want any longer. Easier, tax-deductible.
