Hi all, Just wondering what is the best way to prime a eheim 2213 filter manually? I do not have a primer or siphon. Should I just suck the water through until it fills the basket ? I also heard "rocking " it back and forth will siphon the water into the basket. Any help appreciated !! :duh:

The canister should be placed below the water level. All I do is disconnect the return hose and open the valves. The water should flood the canister forcing the air out the return. You'll have to quickly close the valve as the last of the air is forced out. Then connect the return hose and you're good to go.

I got it all hooked up and sucked on the output tube. It took a couple seconds and I could hear it filling, just in time for me to reconnect teh tube to the spray bar adn away it went. It turned out to be easier than I expected.

O.K I think that's easy enough. Thank's for the help folk's!!

Once u primed the filter once, u never have to do it again really. When u want to clean the filter close the input valve. When u open it again, the hose is still full of water and the pump will still be primed.

I just fill he intake and outflow wih water from a small cup works foe me-Anne

Thank's for the help, I got it going the other night. I just sucked a little on the return line and voila, it started filling the canister. I just watched and listened. When I saw the canister fill I closed the line off, reconnected it then started the filter. It was so quiet I had to check 5 times to make sure it was running. Thank's agian folk's.
