Never had to take Latin in school, huh? Another sign of the decline of modern America. One thing I will say is that all the rules of pronunciation go out the window when the fish has the name of a person as part of the name. You should always pronounce the name correctly as if you were speaking to/of the person.
They made us take it in elementary school, but it wasn't reallly a class, just a very nice old gentleman who came in once a week and taughts us some words and a few songs. I thought it was kind of neat then, and I've grown even more appreciative with age. It really should be mandatory at some level for all students.
