I've had a Red Rubin for a while and it has never propagated. Can someone tell me if I have to manually do it or does it propagate by another means?

Swords reproduce by themselves. You may not have enough light or nutrient.

When I first got the plant, I had just a basic light that came with the aquarium. It's a 30 gallon. Now I have 2 lights, DIY CO2, black sand substrate. It's an invert tank. I have lots of plants in it now and they're all growing pretty well. Hopefully my Red Rubin will split soon.

I didn't get root tabs because I saw that they have various metals in them and I'm afraid that they'll affect my inverts. I was looking at Seachem Root Tabs. Is the copper and various other metal content enough to hurt the shrimp and snails?

I bought a bulb from Lowes for plants and installed it on a 1 light, then I have another light that came with a 55 gallon that I just bought and put it on the tank too. It's 2 different types of light and I'm not sure about the WPG (don't know how to figure it up).

One bulb is 24" the other is the size smaller 18"? It's for a 20 gallon. I do dose with Seachem Flourish Excel, 1 capful a day. The bulbs are fluorescent.

prob 20w and 18w. have you thought about using those cfl bulbs found at walmart?

Yes, actually that was my next DIY project. :headbang2:
