It has been about two months since my silver dollar has been in the hospital tank, he seems completly healed now and I am ready to return him back to his old tank. Normally when you put a fish in a new tank you take water from the tank they are currently in you place them in a bag with air and float them into the new tank, gradually adding water from the new tank into the bag. However the tank that the silver dollar is currently in is a 10gal with high dosages of MelaFix in it, my question is by putting water from his hospital tank in a bag and adding fresh water into it when the time comes to dump him in is there any problem with the water from the hospital tank being dumped into my 58gal ?

Whats the best way to get this Fish back into his old tank without messing up the water in his old home ? Last thing I want to do is throw the tank off its cycle !!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Acclimate then net him out and do not pour the water in the bag into the tank. You should always do that anyway. When buying new fish etc.

Those are great idea's and info Thanks for your quick response !

i was wondering the same thing. btw what is melafix?

Melafix = Fish Wonder Medication

Melafix contains the natural botanical extract from the Tea Tree (Melaleuca), an excellent alternative to resistant strains of bacteria that are unaffected by traditional medications. Treats bacterial infections such as red ulcers, fin and tail rot, cloudy eyes, mouth fungus, and others in as little as 4 days. Also heals open wounds, ulcers, and damaged fins. Doesn't affect pH; safe for invertebrates.

I have a leopard gourami who took a dime size chunk out of my silver dollar that was almost all the way through his body, I put him in a 10gal hospital tank and added the proper amounts of Melafix to his water every day and it's been two months but his wound has completly healed and even 90% of the silver pigment has grown back, so that's why I call it a wonder medicine for fish.

do a few water changes over the next few days in the 10 get the temp close at the same time..do a large water change in the main tank..move fish over.

I rarely acclimate fish when moving them from one tank to another.

the water is pretty darn close in most of my tanks.

Keep the lights off for a day in the tank for the fish to settle down.
I thought Melafix is organic and doesn't need to be removed?
