how to save black blood worms

Are these 'black worms' ...or...'blood worms' ?

I have blackworms and I keep them in a container in the fridge....they seem to live forever ! I just have to remember to take them out and clean the water from time to time...lol.

I even put some in a dish in my newt tank...with water....the water dries up but when I pour more in those worms are always wriggling and alive....

I dont intend to hijack this thread - but I just have a query.
Are blackworms same as Tubifex worms ??
Either way someone pls tell me how to keep Tubifex alive for long.

Regards

Suby

Blackworms are not Tubifex.

I use the commercial worm-keepers for blackworms, not refrigerated, on the floor (coolest place) of the fish room. The water is changed daily with aged tap.

i dont notice much difference either whether in the fridge or not i change the water every day though.

Black worms blood worms and tubifex worms are all separate types.

Black worms look like mini-sized earthworms, are the easiest to keep, and IMHO are the healthiest.

me personally I generally keep 3-4 portions (3-4 ounces of worms) at a time in a shallow tupperware container with about 1-2mm of water thats changed everyday. IME they never stay in the water anyway I always find the partially attached to the side of the container. They just require a lot of oxygenation so make sure the rinse them with either aged or dechlorinated (or tank water) water everyday. Oh I keep mine underneath my aquarium in the stand and have had no problems with that although they do stay longer in the fridge (months).
