I am aware of the flat rate shipping but it seems like a big box for just a golfball of moss? Do they need water to be shipped or just damp napkins? If they do just need damp napkins, would a padded envelope work?

Thank you,

A padded envelope should be fine, I usually use the small flat rate box $4.98 or something like that. Just wrap it in some wet paper towel and sent it on it's way :)

I have received many shipments of moss packaged this way without any problems. Padded envelopes usually cost less to mail than flat-rate.

If it is just moss (no rock), just put in a baggie (sandwich bag) without water and put in an envelope. They are tough to kill.

even if moss only needs a padded envelope to survive shipping, it's not a great way to receive plants in the mail. I've received plants in so many styles of packaging, from paper envelopes to cardboard tubes... and wouldn't appreciate being sent moss in an envelope. I personally ship everything wrapped in paper towels, in zip locks, in usps boxes. It's a bit of overkill, but I've always had success with this method.
