I am currently thinking to redecorate my all my aquariums. And possibly get new ones too. I have 35 US-gallon 30x15x18, 18-gallon 24x12x15, 7-gallon 12x12x12, and 5-gallon 12x9x12. And I am building a 55-gallon 48x18x15. And I am thinking of building 103-gallon 60x20x20. And may be 4 11-gallon 18x12x12.

I would like to know how would you place my fish in my aquariums. I would also like to know what aquariums would you put these fish into if you had these fish.

I am thinking to put Giant Gouramis, Pangasius Catfish and Needle Nose Gars and the Snakehead all together. And Scat, Tiger Barbs together.

The inhabitants.

2 Giant Gouramis. 15”(Shy and not harmful to any fish, currently foster parenting my Oscar) and 13”(very eager eater and eats any fish up to 2”)
4 Pangasius Catfish 6 ½”
2 Needle Nose Gars 8” (Bought on 21 Sept.)
1 Black Oscar 2 ¼” (Bites every fish even the 15" gourami)
1 Snakehead 2 ½” (Jumper and eager eater)

2 Common Goldfish long tail 7” and 2 ¾”
1 Common Goldfish 3 ½”
1 Gold Ryukin 4”
4 Shubinkin 3”

5 Silver Angelfish 2 are 2” and 3 are 1 ½” (fins size excluded)
6 Marble Angelfish 1 ½” (fins size excluded)

1 Scat 2” (freshwater)
6 Tiger barbs 1”
3 Albino Socolofi 2”
4 Baby Mollies (Born in my tub)

Since I like to build glass aquarium myself I have all the glass cut and ready for a 55 Gallon. Just have to put them together. But the glass (front, back and sides) are of 5mm, only bottom is of 8mm. The aquarium will have 8mm 3” glass braces on the top. 4 of them to be exact. And 4 braces in the bottom joining sides, front and back to the bottom. The dimensions of the aquarium is 48x18x15 (LxWxH). Is 5mm safe or should I go for 8mm.

And I am thinking of building 4 11-gallon tanks for breeding angels and socolofi. I am also thinking to build a 103-gallon tank but have not decided should it be a saltwater, backrish or freshwater aquarium. Since I got Giant Gs I guess I will make it a fresh water aquarium.

Please one reply of each member will be appreciated. Write all you can on how to stock my aquariums with the fish I have and the ones I am thinking to build. All relpies are appreciated.

My thoughts...none of your current tanks are large enough for any of the groupings you list...by far.

At only 15" deep, 5 mm (1/4 inch) should be thick enough if the glass is not allowed to bend in the middle of that long 48" tank. You will need some kind of brace across the middle or I would worry about the tank breaking when the water makes the center bow outward. The real issue with glass thickness is the depth of the tank and the unsupported length of the glass. As either one starts to get larger, the glass thickness that it takes to hold it needs to increase.
I have found a table somewhere on line in the past that gives dimensions of tanks and suggested thickness of glass but can't locate it right now. It would be worth looking before getting too far into the expense of a new tank build.

Brace in the middle? Do you mean brace on top between front and back glass.

:iagree:

Please do further research before you buy any fish.
